Pennant Parade

How did I ever manage to look this set over?  It's far beyond me.  Betty happened to be over the other day and brought some of her goodies with her.  I think that it helped to get my mojo flowing again.  I've been in a rut ~ and of course now I HAVE to buy all the stuff she brought.  Have you noticed that you may not have something - either a tool or paper or some great embellishment, then when your at a workshop or a crop or even a friends playing with paper they have it.  Once you touch it you just have to have it!  I'm one of those people.  Betty brought all her new goodies and paper and now I'm trying to sell the dog so I can place an order!!  Ok people, for those of you who don't know me too well I AM ONLY KIDDING.  My hubby would kill me (there I go again, kidding!!)

Anyway, on to the card.  It's just a basic simple card but to give this to someone would really put a smile on their face.
The base card is one of the new In Colors called Wisteria Wonder.  I ran it thru the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions embossing folder first.  I then punched out the border with the new Large Lace Ribbon border punch with Melon Mambo paper.  I stamped the pennants with the new Pennant Parade stamp set in Melon Mambo and Wisteria Wonder inks then punched them out with the Petite Pennants punch.  It needed a sentiment so I stamped "wish big" in Melon Mambo ink on white card stock then layered it on to a piece of Wisteria Wonder scrap that I punched out with my Modern Label Punch.  After looking at it for a while I thought that it needed something so I stamped the stars in the matching colors and punched them out with my 1/2" circle punch pop dotted them on top and I was done.

It was a quick and easy card and it's fun!

I'm working on another tutorial and I hope to have it up in the next week or so - so make sure to come back.  Like I've said before, if there is anything that you might have a question about I'm always here just shoot me an email!

Have a super great day ~ and a terrific weekend!

Apron Box Tutorial

Good afternoon everyone!
I thought that today would be a great time to post my tutorial on how to make my apron box.  Then it gives you time to play around with it this weekend ~ yup, that's me...  Always thinking Ü

So are you ready?  Here we go!  And please remember that you can always click on a picture to make it larger - just remember to hit your back button to come back...
You will need a piece of sturdy cardstock that measures 5 3/4" x 11".  You are going to score the 11" side at 1/2", 5", 5 3/4" and 10 3/4".  Turn your paper to the 5 3/4" side and you will score it at 2 1/2" (as shown in the picture above, not all the way across) and at 5".
Now you will cut away the pieces as shown above.  What you are left with is actually the piece that will be the front of the apron box.  I also like to cut the flaps on a slight diagonal.  I do this with all different boxes and such that I make ~ it gives it a better finished look without little pieces sticking out over.
You will now add your adhesive.  Actually all you need is to put two strips down. For most of my boxes I like to use the red line tape because it is super sticky and I know that whatever I make will stay put together.
You are going to cut away the top part of the box, this will now form an apron.  I actually used the side of my ATG gun to make the curve.  Keep these pieces, you will need them as a guide for the next step.
You are going to flip your cardstock over and decorate it, this is the front of your apron.  I used the cut out pieces to help as a template to make the curves on the DSP.  This is actually DSP from the Stampin' Up!™ Summer mini called Nautical Expedition.  I beleive that I used a piece that was 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" and trimmed it up.  The bottom piece was 2 3/8" x 4 1/2" before trimming.
Once you have added your DSP to the box you will want to punch holes in it to add the jumbo eyelets.
I used about 8" of ribbon for the neck.  I just threaded it thru the eyelets and tied knots in the back.  You can tie the knots in the front if you like or if you prefer you can just add the ribbon and secure it with tape to the back.  You can cover the ribbon on the back with an extra piece of cardstock.  I just like the look of the knots
Once you have added the ribbon to the neck fold the box up and adhere it together.  You will then take another piece of ribbon (I used approx. 12 inches) and wrap it around the middle of the box.  This will cover the seam where the two papers meet and give it a little more of a finished look.
Almost done!  To cover the ribbon seam in the back I added a box that I made with an additional piece of ribbon and I was complete!!

See the wonderful recipe cards that I made to go with this box?  They are made with the stamp set From the Kitchen of.  How adorable would that be to make this little box and a set of cards to give to a bride at a shower, or someone who is just moving out on their own.  Or even a new neighbor with a plate of cookies - and of course the recipe to go with them!  There are many, many ideas that spring from this set.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, just send me an email.  If you'd like to order the supplies I used to make this box you can order them anytime 24/7 from my store HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and have a super great day!!

Elements of Style Center Step Card

I was happy to see this card tutorial on Wednesday - I had a workshop on this back in February and I had so much trouble finding the tutorial for it online. I also noticed that it was called a few different things too.
The base card is Chocolate Chip that I layered with Rose Red and Certainly Celery. I stamped the images from the Elements of Style set and watercolored them. I used my Little Leaves and Beautiful Wings sizzlets dies to cut out the leaves and butterflies. I also used my scallop border punch on the inside with little pearls. A little glimmer mist to the card and I was complete.
So, what do you think??  Pretty, huh??

I also want to share with you the last chance products that are still available online for a limited time only.  Some of these products are discounted up to 40% off.  It is a must see!!  Take a peek at my online store and be prepared for some steals.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Have a great weekend!  See you soon!

It's time to say Goodbye!

It's that time of year again ~ out with the old, in with the new.  Stampin' Up! has released their annual discontinued list for the 2010-2011 catalogue.  As sad as I am to see it go, I am really excied to see what is new that will be coming out.  I just love getting the new book in the mail.  I quickly look thru it to see what's new, then I go back again and take my time with it - looking at all the new eye candy!

So just click on the banner above and you will be directed to my Stampin' Up! site where you can view the wood mount and clear mount stamp discontinued lists as well as the last chance accessories and the Definatley Decorative lists also.

If you'd like to go the route that I take and print off a copy of the PDF just send me a message and I'll email it to you super quick.  I like to go thru the book and mark everything down and then go back and see exactly what it is that I "must have".  But just remember, these items are first come first served - so once they are gone they are gone, be sure to get your order in early.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime!  And I hope that you have a super great day!

Noteably Ornate

I thought that I'd pop in to post a card that I totally love from a set that is I think my new go to set.  I just love it, Noteably Ornate.  Please, please Stampin' Up! don't retire this set anytime soon.
A (long) time ago when Betty stopped by she brought some cards that she received from the swap at Leadership so we thought that we'd try to duplicate it.  There are a couple of things different that we did that was not the same as that card as she had because of course we did not have all the same supplies ~ but I still like how ours turned out.

The base card is Basic Black that we layered with white and some Cherry Cobbler card stock.  We ran the Cherry Cobbler thru the Big Shot with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder.  We stamped the main image from the Notably Ornate stamp set on to white cardstock and cut out around the frame - before adhering the frame down I distressed the edges of the Basic Black with my craft knife.  I stamped the bird in Cherry Cobbler ink on to white cardstock, cut it out and pop dotted it on to the card ~ I also added a little pearl for the eye.  The sentiment is stamped on to white cardstock with black ink then punched out with my modern label punch.  I layered that on to a piece of Cherry Cobbler that was cut out with the same punch - I just cut it in the middle and tapered it on the to the white piece before adding all that to a Basic Black piece that I punched out with my large oval punch.  I added some old lace to the corners and I was complete.

I hope that you enjoyed this card.  I did find out today that Stampin' Up! will be coming out with their discontinued list the beginning of June so I will be sure to post it for you all.  It's always best to get a look at that list and order up what you'd like to before it's all gone.Photobucket
